Mallorca - The Largest Island of Spain

Mallorca is largest of the Balearic Islands which comprise of Minorca, Ibiza, Carbera and Formentera in addition to Mallorca. It covers an area of 554 Km. It has been a preferred destination of the rich and famous since the 1950s and in recent times the European budget traveler. The island’s capital city Palma was a favorite holiday destination of Princess Diana who spent many a summer in Palma the capital city at the invitation of the Spanish King Juan Carlos and his wife Queen Sofia who maintain a summer residence there.

Vigorous Valencia

The original Latin name of the city, Valentia, meant ‘strength’ and ‘vigor’, and by regular phonetic changes it came to be known as Valencia. Valencia is a charming old city in the province of Spain. It is located approximately four hours from Barcelona and three hours from Madrid. It is situated in the centre of the Spanish Mediterranean coastline and overlooks the Gulf of Valencia.
Doha is the capital of Qatar, an oil producing state in the Middle East. It located on the eastern coast of Qatar and is a city where the old world and new world fuse together and coexist in harmony. One can’t help but realize this when one sees the tall modern sky grazing building standing cheek by jowl with the older religious centers and the burkha (veil) clad women walking the streets of Doha. The religious tenants of Islam are observed strictly in Doha. Alcoholic beverages are not allowed to be brought into the country; also the consumption of alcohol is regulated by strict licensing. Alcohol can be bought and consumed only at bars attached to international hotels frequented by expats and foreign tourists. Pork products are also not permitted in the country. In spite of these dietary restrictions due to religious observations, Doha strives to be one of the jewels on the Middle East and it has successfully hosted the most recent Asian Games in December 2006.

Paris — The City of Love & Lights

Paris is the capital city of France. It is also said to be the city of lovers…the most romantic place on earth, and French is the language of love. With so much love around, you are bound to enjoy your stay here. The city is situated on the River Seine in northern France, and its location at a crossroads between land and river trade routes has made it one of the principal cities of Europe.

Wellington - the Head of Maui’s Fish

The picturesque capital city of New Zealand has its origins in Maori Legends. A Maori legend says that the name for Wellington is ‘Te Upoko te Ika a Maui’. Translated in Maori language it means ‘ the head of Maui’s fish.’ ‘Te Whanganui -a- Tara’ is yet another Maori name for Wellington, Tara being the son of Whatonga a Polynesian who had migrated to Hawkes Bay and whose son had discovered the pretty harbor on the Southern tip of the North Island. Today many Maori historical sites are found all over Wellington and the Maori themselves are included in the ethnic fabric of the multicultural city.
